Golf Outing FAQ
04/23/2024Tell Me More About The Golfing Outing!
Frequently Asked Questions & Answers:
Q: How long is the outing?
A: Golfers usually arrive around 10am to get checked in, drop off their bags, have a nice brunch, practice at the driving range and putting green. The brunch includes an omelet station, carving station, salads, and more! Golfers head towards their hole for the Shotgun start at 12PM. Usually golfers return to the clubhouse by 4:30PM, just in time for cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres at the 19th Hole. Golfers regale about the day and enjoy sharing drinks while taking a look at the Raffle items and putting in their final bids for the Auction items! By 5:30PM, the party moves to the beautiful dining room overlooking the grounds.
Q: I don’t play much golf, or I don’t play at all. Is this a competitive event?
A: Not at all! All skill levels are invited to come out and enjoy the day! The outing is set up in Scramble format. This means each player hits a tee shot on each hole, but everyone plays from the spot of the best shot of your team. While there are a few contests, everyone enjoys being a part of the fun and sometimes you might hit that lucky shot!
Q: Transportation – How long does it take to drive there and how can I get there if I don’t have a car?
A: The club is less than 25 miles from NYC, and without traffic driving time is approximately 45 minutes. Uber or carpooling is also a great option. In addition, there is a MetroNorth stop right across the street from the entrance of Scarsdale Golf Club. Trains run from Grand Central frequently, and the current schedule shows a 9:17AM train that arrives at the Hartsdale station at 9:50AM (a short ride of 33 minutes)! Registered golfers will receive the train schedule information and additional details a few days before the event.
Q: Can I sign up as a single golfer?
A: Absolutely! We will do our best to pair you up in a group with commonalties i.e. children’s grades, singles, couples, etc. Everyone is there to have fun and it is a fantastic way to meet other parents, network, and experience a day at Scarsdale Golf Club.
Q: Is this event only open to Epiphany families and alumni?
A: No – We highly encourage you to bring your family, friends, colleagues, associates and anyone who would be interested in playing at this exclusive golf club! It is an incredible day filled with eating, drinking, golfing and having fun. Participants are generally able to come and go as their schedule permits, although we highly recommend blocking out your day to enjoy all that Scarsdale has to offer. We also welcome corporate sponsors!
Q: Are there clubs I can rent?
A: Yes. Clubs are available for rent at $80/set. Please let us know when registering if you require this, and also specify mens’ or ladies’, right or left-handed. We will have the set ready for you at check-in.
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: Collared shirts, golf shorts or skirts. Dinner coats are not required! The dinner reception is informal and no changing of attire is necessary. Most golfers go straight from the course to the 19th Hole, and then to the Dinner Reception.
Q: Can I participate in the Live Auction or Raffles if I am unable to attend that day?
A: Yes. Please contact: golf@epiphanyschoolfoundation.org or Agnes Teng (Golf Chair) for additional details if interested!
